ABOUT US

The story of Sandeep Seva Nilayam (SSN) is one of compassion, resilience, and transformation. It began in 1993, when our founder, Mrs. Lilly Samuel, saw firsthand the suffering of people affected by leprosy, tuberculosis, and poverty in rural Karnataka. With limited resources but an unshakable commitment to service, she laid the foundation of SSN — a home of hope for the marginalized and neglected.
The Early Years (1993–2000)
In the beginning, SSN’s work revolved around healthcare and disease eradication, especially leprosy and tuberculosis, which were widespread and carried immense stigma. Armed with the Government of India’s Survey, Education, Treatment (S.E.T) strategy, SSN volunteers went door-to-door, spreading awareness, identifying patients, and ensuring timely treatment.
-
Over 81 villages with 72,000 people were surveyed.
-
306 leprosy cases were detected and treated successfully, with 35 patients with deformities rehabilitated.
This period established SSN as a trusted ally of the community in the fight against communicable diseases.
